Contemporary Music

The Department of Contemporary Music at Gangseo University aims to develop professional musicians with the practical skills needed in modern popular music — including pop, drama/film OST, and live performance — and aspires to produce competitive music artists who are active not only in Korea but on global cultural and artistic platforms, in step with K-POP globalisation and the AI era.

The department nurtures musicians who can develop outstanding musical ability and express it creatively, and who possess the leadership and empathy to collaborate with people around the world on global cultural platforms.

Core foundational skills shared across music performance and production — including basic music theory, harmony, computer music basics, content creation techniques, and platform utilisation — are developed to provide a solid basis for professional practice.

In the music production track, students develop skills in composition and arrangement, proficiency in D.A.W. software (Cubase / Logic / Pro Tools), and expertise in studio systems. In the performance track, students build foundational theory and technique for vocal and instrumental performance, stage performance skills for solo recitals and ensembles, and concert planning and production expertise.
